      Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse

      An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Senior Staff Nurses within the Oncology/Haematology day case unit within University Hospital Royal Stoke. Please note variance between available hours and JD document. Full time and part-time hours available.

      We pride ourselves in supporting patients and their families by providing a relaxed, friendly environment in which they can receive their treatment safely. Nurses within our team gain experience in all aspects of giving anti-cancer therapies in addition to honing assessment skills in identifying and treating side effects, working closely with the multi-disciplinary teams across our Cancer Centre.

      We are looking for a dynamic and driven Senior Staff Nurse who is passionate about chemotherapy/ SACT delivery to join our skilled team. The post holder will require enthusiasm, motivation and passion to help deliver a patient focused service, to contribute to the visions and values of our specialty and Trust. We provide high standards of care to all patients receiving intensive chemotherapy treatments and this role is vital in achieving this.

      Main duties of the job

      We are a busy unit consisting of up to 30 treatment chairs plus one stem cell harvest chair, giving the successful post holder opportunity to develop apheresis skills. You will use your strong organisational skills to lead the team on a shift basis, supporting the scheduling team to ensure optimum chair efficiency and to liaise with the wider clinical teams troubleshooting issues in a proactive manner. You will draw on your experience to solve problems and deputise in multi-disciplinary team meetings in the absence of the senior sister.

      You will be an experienced Chemotherapy Nurse who has completed the accredited course in chemotherapy nursing practice or planned to undertake this and ideally has experience in working within a haematology / oncology or chemotherapy environment.
