What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Architect and evolve a real-time API platform for scalability, low latency, and high availability
- Lead design and implementation of platform-wide projects, including event-driven architecture and service mesh integration
- Collaborate with engineering managers, product managers, and infrastructure teams to align technical execution with priorities
- Bring complex projects from concept to production, influencing technical direction across multiple teams
- Lead initiatives to improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of real-time APIs and associated platform services
What is Required (Qualifications):
- 10+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering focused on distributed systems and API design
- Proven experience designing and operating real-time, low-latency API platforms at scale
- Proficiency with protocols (HTTP, gRPC, WebSockets), caching, load balancing, and API security
- Experience with at least one modern backend language (Go, Java, Rust, or Node.js)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and modern backend stacks (e.g., Node.js, Java, Go, or Python)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- AWS and Python experience
- Familiarity with API gateways, load balancing, caching, and observability tools (Kibana, Grafana, Datadog, Prometheus)
- Experience with event-driven architectures, message queues (Kafka), and stream processing frameworks
- DevOps knowledge including Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience influencing technical direction beyond your immediate team
