- Develop and implement security policies and procedures to protect company data and infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, ensuring very high levels of uptime and reliability.
- Developing business processes that mitigate risks associated with cloud computing services.
- Manage and maintain virtualization infrastructure, including vSphere, Hyper-V and enterprise storage solutions such as NetAPP, Dell EMC or HPE.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures.
- Collaborate with the DevOps Engineer and software developers toensure the infrastructure meets the needs of our applications.
- Design, implement and manage DC’s cloud, virtual and on-prem infrastructure, including platforms such as Azure, AWS and Google Cloud Platform, both as Infrastructure-as-Service and Platform-as-a-Service
- Liaising with stakeholders to ensure cloud architecture supports compliance, scalability and operational requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of six to seven (6-7) years of experience in a systems administrator position with specific experience with cloud-based systems, ideally in a higher education environment.
- Strong knowledge of Azure, AWS and Google Cloud Platform, including services such as EC2, S3, RDS and Kubernetes.
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Strong knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash and Powershell.
- Strong knowledge of networking technologies, such as TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls and load-balancing.
- Experience and ability to solve complex technical and logistical problems in a timely manner
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written) to communicate effectively with both highly-technical and non-technical users.
- Strong interpersonal to effectively work with a wide range of faculty, staff, and students.
- Excellentand documented analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work well as a team member in multi-professional environment and as an individual contributor.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision and to act on one’s own initiative.
- Work experience in a university, government, or healthcare setting would be considered an asset.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certfieid Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator,Certified Information Security System Professional (CISSP) and/or VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) would be strong assets.

Discovery Commons (DC) provides information technology support for the Temerty Facultyof Medicine. Our mission is to partner and collaborate with clients, University, and third parties to determine value based, sustainable technology solutions that enable the Faculty to achieve its academic mission.
The Senior System and Cloud Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation and management of Temerty Medicine’s systems and cloud infrastructure, working closely with our central University IT partners. The role requires deep technical knowledge of cloud-based technologies, strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and noon-technical stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have an extensive
background in cloud-based systems and a strong foundation in various technical domains, including networking, virtualization, storage and security.
