      About the role

      At ANZ our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive. We’re making this happen by improving our customers’ financial wellbeing so they can achieve incredible things – be it buying their home, building a business or saving for things big or small.

      Reporting to the Head of Legal, Technology, as a Senior Technology Lawyer you will provide quality, commercially astute and timely legal advice to ANZ clients in an efficient and pro-active manner.

      You will frequently partner with other enablement functions including other parts of Legal, Procurement, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Group Technology and Tax to negotiate compliant procurement and technology contracts and support the delivery of ANZ’s technology projects.

      While your work will be primarily Australia-focused, ANZ operates in multiple jurisdictions and has technology suppliers based all around the world. The Technology Legal team supports technology projects globally and your work will reflect this.

      The ANZ regulatory environment is increasingly complex. You will be involved in regulatory and legislative reform projects, and you will be required to advise on compliance initiatives to meet new and changing regulatory requirements.

      You will also need to instruct and manage external law firms who provide additional assistance from time to time.

      Role Location: Sydney or Melbourne

      Role Type: Permanent, Full-time

      What will you bring?

      To grow and be successful in this role, you will:

      • have a proven track record and post qualification experience in technology and procurement projects;

      • have outstanding drafting and negotiating skills, a growth mindset and be a pragmatic problem solver who is outcomes focused;

      • be experienced in providing accurate and commercial legal advice and be able to articulate legal risks clearly and concisely;

      • be able to work autonomously and as part of a team and be willing to supervise and mentor more junior lawyers;

      • have excellent time management skills with a demonstrated track record of handling challenging workloads and multiple stakeholders;

      • enjoy the challenges of working across multiple jurisdictions and within multi-dimensional environments;

      • have strong relationship building skills and value collaboration;

      • value the benefits of working in an inclusive environment and within a team of diverse colleagues.

      So, why join us?

      There’s something special about being part of ANZ. From the moment you join us, you’re part of a team working towards a common goal: improving the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

      But it’s not just our customers who’ll feel your impact. You’ll feel it too. Because at ANZ, you’ll have the resources and community you need to take the next big step in your career, towards even bigger things in the future.

      We offer a range of benefits tailored to the countries in which we operate including Health and Wellbeing programs and flexible working arrangements.

      You’ll also enjoy working in a diverse and inclusive workplace where the different backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences of our people are celebrated. We encourage you to talk to us about any adjustments you may require to our recruitment process or the role itself. If you are a candidate with a disability, let us know how we can provide you with additional support.
