Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Transportation Planner, we'll count on you to:

• Pursue work as a project manager on a variety of transportation planning projects
• Participate in strategic business development and client relationship building
• Lead projects, project tasks and delegate assignments to team members
• Interpret, assimilate, and manage project-related data for transportation projects
• Conduct and interpret technical analysis including but not limited to functional planning/design, multi-modal level of service analysis, geospatial analysis, transportation demand management, and general data analysis
• Develop graphical interpretation of complex data analyses using tools such as ArcGIS, Adobe Illustrator, and/or In-Design, etc.
• Prepare and lead participation of public information meetings and hearings
• Regular coordination across disciplines (e.g., architecture, engineering, transportation planning, environmental planning, urban design, etc.)
• Supervise employees
• Within a dynamic, team-focused environment, demonstrate a willingness to be flexible, collaborate, problem solve and innovate
• Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Planning, GIS, Geography, or closely related field
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant transit planning experience
• Possess excellent analytical and communication skills
• Understanding of transit planning principles
• Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel
• Solid business development skills demonstrated ability to relate well to clients and demonstrated presentation skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
• Ability to travel

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supervising staff
• Experience in GIS software, geospatial analysis, and graphical interpretation of complex data into materials for public consumption
• Familiarity with planning policies and guiding documents
• Fluency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of virtual engagement tools, and data collection methods and data analysis
• Self-starter with great analytical, organizational, writing, and communication skills
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills
• Experience with funding and implementation strategies
• Experience with complete streets planning and design concepts
• Transit planning experience
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with metropolitan planning organizations, transit authority, and/or state department of transportation planning processes
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or other relevant certification
• Master’s in Planning, or closely related field
• Significant experience with GIS and other data analysis tools appropriate for planning tasks
