      Position Overview

      The Ohio State University’s Office of Advancement seeks a Senior Videographer. The videographer has the primary responsibility to support Advancement Marketing and Communications (AMC) in video and photo content for donor and alumni communications and is integral in the preparation for and execution of the Time and Change: The Ohio State Campaign celebrations.

      The Senior Videographer is a creative and passionate professional with a strong foundation in filmmaking and multimedia storytelling. This professional will operate with a high degree of independence, decision-making capabilities, judgment, consistency, and relationship building while leveraging excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong organizational skills with an extreme attention to detail, to collaborate and interact effectively with university, distinguished, and notable constituents, that include alumni, donors, faculty, grateful patients, etc. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) is a must. A critical thinker with a knack for problem-solving and possess a keen eye for detail. Comfortable adapting to ever-changing environments, the videographer must thrive as a self-shooting producer/director on solo projects or seamlessly integrate into larger productions as a valued crew member. Discretion and sound judgment are essential when handling sensitive information.

      The videographer is a full-time (40 hours/week) temporary position for the period of one year. Applicants are encouraged to submit a strong portfolio of non-profit video and photo work that demonstrates your creative abilities and experience.

      Duties and Responsibilities

      75% - Videography and photography

      • Responsible for leading and managing studio-based and on-location productions, from initial video/photo consultation through post-production and distribution– prepares script, storyboard, shot list, location, equipment, scheduling talent, transportation, running camera and audio.
      • Manage and coordinate complex, large-scale projects that advance specific marketing strategies and goals
      • Incorporates university brand guidelines into scripts, storyboards and shoots.
      • Partners with Advancement clients and colleagues to determine project needs, schedule shoots, provide project updates and deliver final product.
      • Responsible for remaining current with emerging technologies and industry trends through research of new technologies hardware software and techniques.
      • Develops creative concepts that provide solutions to communication needs.
      • Edit videos and photos using Adobe platform (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, etc.)
      • Incorporates university brand guidelines into post production processes.

      15% - Collaboration

      • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure internal and external communications are aligned to achieve maximum impact with desired audiences
      • Mentor younger associates
      • Develops and nurtures collaborative relationships with other creative partners throughout the organization to build functional reputation in pursuit of improved results

      10% - Completes special projects and other duties as assigned

      Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Four (4) years of relevant experience.
      • Experience shooting and editing video
      • Must have a driver’s license and the ability to travel mostly in-state for video shoots.

      • Master's degree or equivalent experience
      • Six (6) years of relevant experience shooting and editing video
      • Working knowledge of Sony camera ecosystem (FX3, A7iV, etc.)
      • Certifications in video productions skills (e.g. Part 107 UAS License ACA/ACE etc.).
