- 2nd shift: 3:30-11pm
- 3rd shift: 11pm-7am

TRAVEL / PER DIEM:
$120 Per shift/workday, Non-Taxed Per Diem – Paid Weekly.
All PPE and tools are provided. Hotel expenses can be advanced for up to 2 weeks upon request/approval.
Additional Lodging/Gas/Transportation expenses are the responsibility of the travel contractor.
COMPENSATION (RT):
$21 - $27+ per hour, based upon resume/total years’ relevant experience
OVERTIME RATE (OT):
= X1.5 RT, up to $40+/hr.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:Working to create foundations, ventilation, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, performing metal fabrication. Huntington Ingalls is the largest shipbuilding company in the world. They employ about 44,000 people domestically and internationally across 7 locations. The shipyard in Virginia stretches over 5 miles long. Located in Southeast / Coastal Virginia, it is very hot and muggy during the summer and cool during the winter. All work will be performed on a Navy vessel or in a shop environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION – SHEET METAL MECHANIC
The Sheet Metal Department is a highly versatile team of craftsmen that are responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing a wide variety of Components on Aircraft Carriers, Submarines, and other Surface Ships. These sheet metal components include, but are not limited to ventilation systems, metal joiner bulkheads and framing, furniture, cabinetry, lockers, ladders and handrails, foundations, weapons spaces, and wet spaces. As a sheet metal mechanic, you will perform work governed by detailed technical work documents and procedural guidelines. The tools of the trade include a variety of hand tools and power tools/equipment to include drills, rivet guns, grinders, miter saws, band saws, nibblers, plasma arc cutters, rollers, shears, press brakes and CNC fabrication machines. The Sheet Metal Department will provide formal and on the job training (basic sheet metal/tack welding) as well as any job specific training requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a least 4+ Years of experience as a first-class Sheet Metal Mechanic (or equivalent title for Industrial) in the installation of foundations, ventilation, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, and sheet metal fabrication shop work. Marine or Oil/Gas experience is preferred. Aircraft/Industrial/Commercial sheet metal experience is also acceptable.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
1. Ability to comprehend complex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches to include weld symbols, material types, datum and reference lines.
2. Ability to comprehend fractional and decimal dimensions as with the use of a ruler.
3. Ability to lay out and piece parts for fabrication and assembly.
4. Ability to assemble piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner.
5. Experience working in a physically demanding environment.
6. Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry.
7. Experience using small hand tools (electric drills, grinders, rivet guns), and shop equipment (drill press, press break, Shears etc.).
Experience Level:
Intermediate - Expert Level (4+ Years XP)
