      Description

      SAIC is looking a Shipboard Electrical Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.

      JOB DESCRIPTION:

      The Shipboard Electrical Engineer will Provide Electrical Engineering and DoD Acquisition support for shipboard integration engineering support, for implementation for embedded, shipboard energy storage systems and energy storage enclosures for military application.

      JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Characterizing large-scale battery Maximum Credible Event (MCE) / Worst Case Event (WCE), developing failure modes and effects, Li-ion fire mitigation and suppression concepts, prototyping battery-agnostic containment solutions, and examining Li-ion and other alternative energy storage viability
      • Engineering support and requirements development for electrical, mechanical, controls and mitigation solutions for the identified system and the interfaces of the integrated shipboard environment
      • Assist with engineering investigations on Power and Energy systems, energy storage enclosures and support processes
      • Engineering investigations require familiarity with capabilities and limitations of commercial failure and material analysis of non-destructive and destructive analysis for lithium-ion and silver-zinc chemistry energy storage systems, enclosure and mitigation systems
      • Investigations and review of studies, analysis, evaluations, and assessments provided to the Government
      • Support of DoD acquisition and acquisition management

      Qualifications

      REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

      • Bachelor's degree in engineering and five or more years of experience
      • Experience with support of DoD acquisition and acquisition management
      • Experience with DoD electrical shipboard system requirements
      • Experience with Cameo
      • Experience with design to meet DoD or commercial control system requirements
      • Interim secret clearance with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process
      • US Citizenship required

      DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

      • Battery failure simulation to predict failure modes, energy released, mitigation technique effectiveness, etc
      • Exposure to MBSE
      • Experience will MIL-STD-882
      • Develop requirements with energy or power systems
      • Experience with electrical and power distribution characteristics of battery systems
      • Experience with support of DoD acquisition and acquisition management
