Department Overview:
The UW Space Science and Engineering Center is a multi-discipline research and development organization that focuses primarily on climate, weather, atmospheric, and space related research. Funding sources include NASA, NOAA, NSF, DOE, and private industry, with an aggregate annual budget of about $30 million. Our projects include observation, analysis and application of the data collected by our instruments in Antarctica, on satellites, aircrafts, ships and land based installations. This information is made available to the scientific community worldwide and helps to enhance our understanding of Earth and the solar system beyond. Anticipated Start Date:

Monday - Friday during core hours of 8:30am - 5:00pm. Varies based on availability and department need. Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

1 Qualifications:
Must be a registered student for duration of employment. Previous office experience is a plus. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Dependable
- History of being very accurate
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently with little supervision
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work during the school year
- Customer service experience is a plus
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus
- Good driving record
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and database programs
- Knowledge of FileMaker Pro is a plusPosition Summary/Job Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Shipping out equipment and items from the SSEC.
- Receiving deliveries into the SSEC.
- Delivering packages to their recipients.
- Database entry.
- Making deliveries using a university vehicle.
- Following up on customer requests, answering phone calls, responding to emails.
- General infrastructure support such as replacing light bulbs, hanging frames and white boards.
- General project support such as moving equipment or picking up supplies.
- Moving or assembling office furniture.
