      This position is responsible for accurate and timely domestic and international shipments leaving the Starkey Global Distribution Center (GDC). All safety and standard operating procedures are to be used to complete tasks. In addition, this position will assist with inventory controls, transactional accuracy, and proper storage of materials within GDC.

      Approach and Deployment (What to Do & How to Do It)

      • Ensure all items are shipped to domestic customers on-time and according to standard operating procedures & customer specifications.
        • Set up work area.
        • Add shipping materials to orders, per Shipping Matrix instruction.
        • Build protective packaging.
        • Verify shipment account number, part number(s), quantities, and special delivery instructions.
        • Validate shipment quality.
        • Use computer to invoice Oracle and/or SOP orders.
        • Place shipping packages into bins and/or onto pallets (use shrink wrap machine, if applicable).
        • Contact freight forwarders for shipping quotes and to schedule pick-ups.
        • Send out shipping confirmations to customers.
        • Answer questions from Materials Handlers on shipping instructions.
      • Manage all international mail and shipments.
        • Monitor internal facility shipping schedules international customer cut-off times.
        • Verify shipment account number, part number(s), quantities, and special delivery instructions.
        • Validate shipment quality.
        • Prepare material for shipment by following region-specific handling and labeling requirements, creating boxes, adding protective packaging material, and weighing materials.
        • Prepare required paperwork (i.e. air bill, certificate of origin, certificate of compliance, bill of lading, Shipper’s Export Declaration (SED), commercial and Starkey invoices, etc.).
        • Prepare documentation and ship Hazardous Materials (requires special handling and labeling).
        • Maintain files for each account and all of their shipments.
        • Communicate with export department about shipping instructions, urgent rush orders, and any issues that may arise.
        • Research and understand shipping regulations for all regions to avoid shipping delays and/or fines.
        • Conduct tracers on lost shipments.
      • Utilize proper inventory controls.
        • Perform applicable Oracle transactions when moving inventory.
        • Maintain inventory accuracy for all sub-inventories.
        • Communicate any backorders or inventory discrepancy to the Department Team Lead.
        • Assist with cycle count procedures.
        • Take part in annual physical inventory.
      • Perform ad hoc Warehouse duties.
        • Perform and follow-up on all safety procedures.
        • Maintain a clean and organized storage space.
        • Request shipping supplies and materials for internal use.
        • Follow up on internal inefficiencies and implement improvements.

      Job Requirements

      Minimum education, certification and experience requirements:

      Education:

      Ability to read and understand written/verbal directions and paperwork such as standard operating procedures. High school diploma or equivalent desired.

      Experience:

      Previous shipping/receiving experience required. Import/export experience preferred.

      Desired Certification: Hazardous Materials Shipping

      Knowledge

      • Ability to read and understand numbers and written instructions
