      About the role

      We are delighted to announce that we are currently seeking applications for multiple experienced Shotfirers to join our North Surface Coal Team in Central Queensland!

      As a Shotfirer, you will assist and provide direction, supervision, and guidance to the Blast Crew in the process of loading, tying, and firing large shots. These roles will be Drive-in Drive-out (DIDO), operating mostly on 7 days on/7 days off rosters, and camp facilities will be provided for the duration of the roster.

      Our industry-leading training programs offer career advancement, with many former Shotfirers moving into roles like Supervisors, Territory Managers, Blasting Technicians and Operational Leaders. We also provide opportunities for growth into our technical services team.

      What you will be doing

      • Providing operational blasting knowledge, direction and advice to Orica’s blast crews and associated stakeholders;
      • Shotfiring duties including magazine management, managing the loading, tying and firing of blasts, following drill and blast designs;
      • Working in tight unison with your teammates to provide excellence in service to our valued customers;
      • Assisting with the training and mentoring of new team members;
      • At all times acting with integrity and respect.

      What you will bring

      • Experience operating as a full shotfirer;
      • Knowledge of explosive and storage regulations;
      • Knowledge of blasting and blasting procedures;
      • QLD Shotfirers Licence;
      • Current HR licence (desirable but not essential);
      • Hold a current QLD Explosives Security Clearance;
      • An impeccable safety record and commitment toward safety.
