      Job Summary

      As a business, we are fully on-board with reducing our energy consumption and in ensuring we operate as sustainably as possible. As our new Site Environmental Lead you will be a key part of our mission.
      This role will be site based in Bristol - our Filton site, some travel required once a week to our sister site at Western Approach where we manufacture, machine and assemble component parts from internal wing structure’s to smaller detailed components using a wide range of materials.

      Reporting directly to the Site HSE Lead, you will help us to manage the use of energy resources at both sites and will identify & implement cost-effective environmental sustainability improvement projects. You will ensure both sites are compliant with our Environmental Management System (EMS), and the requirements of ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR)

      How You Will Contribute

      In this important role, you will:
      • Identify and manage improvement projects that reduce the Environmental aspects and impacts associated with the sites' activities and processes, in a cost effective manner.
      • Raise awareness of our environmental plan and activities that have Significant Environmental Impacts, across both sites, ensuring that environmental information is accessible to all, embed a culture of environmental responsibility and ownership
      • Collect and analyse environmental data (e.g. energy, waste & water) for the sites on a monthly basis whilst identifying areas for improvement
      • Track performance to the environmental targets and KPI’s on a monthly basis & produce a suite of environmental metrics and KPI’s that is accessible to all site employees
      • Contribute to the production and maintenance of the site Environmental Awareness Training material; create and deliver environmental awareness campaigns
      • Ensure that all documentation relating to the site EMS is maintained and up to date.
      • Record and maintain the Environmental Aspects and Impacts relating to all activities and processes undertaken
      • Ensure that all site business areas and functions develop, maintain and review an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) that will address local significant Environmental Impacts, improve environmental performance, and help archive the site environmental targets and objectives
      • Undertake site Audits monitoring compliance to the sites EMS and supporting procedures, work instruction and other documentation, as part of the Environmental Audit Procedure
      You will also work alongside the Site HSE Lead to:
      • Ensure that both sites remain compliant to all relevant Legislation, schemes and agreements
      • Contribute to the development of the GKN Aerospace Environment Group on creation of Environmental Sustainability Content and help steer the company to a more sustainable future
      • Monitor and analyse the electricity, gas and water utilities data across the GKN Filton & Western Approach sub-metering networks, using the available monitoring and targeting software.
      • Manage, maintain and improve the ‘Siemens Advantage Navigator’ Energy Monitoring & Targeting system and all the respective meters

      What Will You Bring?

      To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
      • Must have previous experience within a manufacturing environment
      • Previous experience in an Environmental Management specific role
      • IEMA membership or equivalent
      • A good understanding and experience of Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001 & 50001
      • Familiar with Microsoft Office systems and Data Analysis and Reporting
