- Pull credit bureaus and assess scores and reports as a part of the underwriting process to primarily evaluate application only transactions.
- Analyze financial statements including revenue, profitability, and cash flow and review company credit history, debt/liabilities, and other customer information to assess risk associated with credit applications.
- Perform due diligence to determine whether applicants meet the criteria for credit worthiness. You will be empowered to overrule our credit matrix based on your investigation.
- Assign risk ratings related to outcomes of credit underwriting.
- Review each application for compliance with regulations.
- Document findings and recommendations in a well-organized credit write-up in accordance with the credit authority and make recommendations to the next authoirty level as needed.
- Conduct industry and reputational risk assessments to identify risks and mitigants associated with underlying transactions.
- Proactively structure and negotiate transactions to appropriately mitigate risk leveraging market best practices (e.g., down payments, guarantees, collateral, contractual terms, etc.).
- Collaborate with sales, clients and deal teams and actively communicate deal screening results (pay history, delinquency, write-offs, bankruptcies, etc.)
- Perform periodic renewal write-ups and recommend increases or decreases to credit line.
- Additional /flexible hours may be required based on business cycle.
- Bachelor’s degree or professional accounting qualification.
- 3-5 years’ experience in credit underwriting or experience in a similar role.
- Professional experience working in a commercial bank or financial institution.
- Experience underwriting equipment finance, term loans and revolving lines of credit for small businesses.
- Working knowledge of industry standard credit rating tools and financial modeling.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of banking concepts and regulations.

Small Business Credit Analyst
We are offering this unique and exciting opportunity to work with a team of 8 professionals that serves a diverse and broad client base across the United States. We will offer you the ability to grow in this hybrid role which will afford you the opportunity to work remotely and in office to provide the appropriate work/life balance. We will provide you with the ability to adjudicate clients across many geographies applying for a variety of financial offerings. Based on experience, you will have credit authority up to $100,000. We will provide you the tools to support your day-to-day activities as well as future career growth.
The wage range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 / year, with the actual pay dependent on your skills and experience as they relate to the job requirements. This is a full-time position with benefits. This is a hybrid role, with 3 days in the Tampa office required. (No relocation assistance offered.) Must be legally authorized to work in the US. Employer will not sponsor position for employment visa status now or in the future (ex. H-1B).
You are:
An associate level credit professional with 3-5 years of experience in commercial credit underwriting. You will have familiarity with small business products, including equipment loans & leases, term loans, and revolving lines of credit. The loans you underwrite are both short and long term, secured and unsecured. You have received formal credit training and have experience working in a commercial bank or financial institution underwriting equipment and working capital transactions. This position reports to the Chief Risk Officer.
