      Pay Range: $72,037.35 - $90,046.44

      About this opportunity:

      Under the general direction of the Corps Officer, the Social Services Director plans, directs, coordinates, supervises, and monitors the administration of all social service programs within the Charlottesville Corps. The Social Services Director ensures the implementation of a strengths-based approach to client services. Administers, monitors and evaluates the emergency assistance funds provided by Energy Share, CARES, EFSP, and other state or Federal Program funds. Supervises Shelter Program Manager I, Social Services Program Managers, Residential Program Manager, all Case Managers and Social Service Workers and ensures work is in compliance with established policies and procedures; develops, implements, and enhances programs to effectively meet the needs of the community resulting in measurable outcomes and results for all social services programs; administers the broader Corps’ Social Service budget working in tandem with Development Department staff. Secures funding for programs; writes grants proposals and ensures program operations are in compliance with contract agreements; serves as leader in the community by performing public speaking serving on program related boards, advisory groups and affinity groups and promoting program services. Serves as a liaison to local City officials and government entities educating and informing them of Salvation Army programs; creates new and strengthens existing relationships and forge new partnerships and funding opportunities.

      Key responsibilities:

      • Designs and supervises the administration of all social service programs within the Charlottesville Corps to include all counties in the service area.
      • Develops and implements policies and procedures in accordance with applicable state and federal grants and/or contracts and TSA Social Service policy and procedures.
      • Plans, organizes, manages and facilitates with various Salvation Army personnel ensuring programs are carried out successfully and in a professional manner.
      • Supervises, plans, assigns, coordinates, and monitors the work of all managers and staff working for the Social Services Department.

      What we are looking for in you:

      • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, AND
      • Four years progressively responsible experience administering social service programs with at least two years in a supervisory capacity; OR
      • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Non-Profit Management or a related field, AND
      • Six years progressively responsible experience administering social service programs with at least two year in a supervisory capacity.
      • LGSW, LICSW, LPC, CAC preferred
      • Valid State driver’s license

      Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

      Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

      Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Social Services Director is an essential personnel position requiring attendance during inclement weather and/or emergency events as deemed by the Officer.
