- Volunteer recruitment – maintain number of volunteers needed
- Direct time with clients (referral intake, volunteer/client matches, maintain client satisfaction, interacts appropriately and professionally with volunteers, respects confidentiality)
- Direct time with volunteers (orientation, annual reviews, support and supervision, interacts appropriately and professionally with volunteers, respects confidentiality)
- Administrative duties (Phone, timesheets)
- Coordinate and facilitate regularly scheduled in-service trainings
- Meetings – attends all pertinent associated meetings internally and externally
- Maintain client progress notes and other pertinent annotations
- Honorably discharged veteran of the United States military.
- Related Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related work experience or five years of related work experience required.
- Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
- Must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on county business as a continued condition of employment.
- Will be expected to seek out educational opportunities to enhance services to identified veterans
- All licenses and certifications must be maintained as continued condition of employment.
- Employee interfaces and takes a lead role in improving quality of life programs established by Veterans Service;
- Establishes and maintains a list of veterans who need quality of life programs to improve their overall well-being;
- Develops professional reports with any and all organizations identified that can assist in improving developed programs;
- Continuously looks outside the box for opportunities to unite, exploit, help, and or improve the veteran community;
- Develop reports / presentations to exploit the effectiveness of developed programs;
- Works with the Social Service Officer to fill in where necessary to maintain a high level of customer service;
- Must understand the inner workings of other departments within Veteran Services;
- Shall have a general knowledge of all programs provided but must have be efficient with little to no supervision in assisting in financial assistance and indigent burial programs;
- Maintain the office website and social media platforms;
- Maintain and increase correspondence with veterans and their families to potentially include a newsletter;
- Facilitate and attend outreach events;
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance;
- Attends Veteran Service Commission meetings (when applicable) and various training sessions, video conferences, and workshops;
- Perform general clerical duties;
- Act as Admin. Asst. and/or driver as needed;
- Works overtime and outside of typical work schedule/business hours as required; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Delaware County Veterans Services wants to find those veterans who struggle with everyday life in one capacity or another, connect them with services already available or create potential programs to enhance their quality of life. In doing so, develop a list of volunteers that would be willing to participate and provide a service to the frailest of veterans. The volunteers would be managed internally so all the approved programs can remain monitored and improved. Additionally, enhance the knowledge of all veterans of the office via social media, the website, correspondence, and outreach events.
Position:
Employee will connect and learn what organizations and programs exist in Delaware County. Create, publish, and update a document to be shared to internal personnel.
The employee shall seek out those veterans who would benefit from enrichment opportunities by identifying them via direct contact or through internal / external stakeholders.
When a need is identified, a potential program to improve the veteran and or veteran’s spouse quality of life should be explored. If feasible, created with pertinent stakeholders and managed successfully for other veterans to participate.
Create and manage a group of volunteers to assist with programs developed internally for veterans and spouses to participate.
The employee would manage the office website, social media accounts, and other outreach correspondence such as a newsletter.
Facilitate larger outreach events such as trips to USAF Museum, First Friday’s, events during the fair, and veteran’s day events. Employee will work with multiple organizations and staff to create new experiences and facilitate ongoing events.
