      Position Summary

      Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful applicant, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy.


      This is the second level of the Sourcing classification hierarchy. This position executes the sourcing process for assigned business areas and implements policies and procedures directed towards providing contracted services/materials. Employees will manage request for proposals and bidding processes while establishing and nurturing relationships with key suppliers to ensure competitive pricing. Achieve the best contractual conditions while also ensuring internal business unit partnerships. Employees at this level solve more complex problems with some supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence. Conducts business dealings with the highest level of integrity and regard for corporate guidelines, legal, and environmental regulations.

      Responsibilities

      • Purchases complex materials, equipment or enterprise services via contractual agreements with suppliers. Compares pricing for needed services/materials via bid events/RFQs and negotiates with vendors/suppliers on proposals. Analyzes responses to complex bid requests, points out commercial differences, and makes succinct recommendations in selecting appropriate suppliers for contract awards. Employee supports strategic projects and initiatives. Focus on supplier relationship management with key/strategic suppliers.

      • Resolves complex problems and or discrepancies with billings and shipments.

      • Achieves substantial cost savings through negotiations, and consolidation of purchase requests and or contracts. Negotiate contracts to include pricing, terms, lead times, etc. to optimize total value of ownership.

      • Ensures that purchase orders and contracts are in compliance with all SC department Sourcing Standards and corporate policies/procedures.

      • Performs escalated expediting activities to support station schedules and critical needs. (generation specific).

      • Maintains knowledge of commodities, sources of supply, diversity opportunities and market conditions that may impact future procurement. Collaborates effectively across different organizational levels, sites, functions, businesses, and regions to realize sourcing goals and objectives.

      Required/Basic Qualifications (Sourcing Specia list)

      • Bachelors degree + 2 years related work experience OR

      • Associates degree + 4 years related work experience OR

      • HS/GED + 6 years related work experience

      Required/Basic Qualifications (Senior Sourcing Specia list)

      • Bachelors degree + 5 years related work experience OR

      • Associates degree + 7 years related work experience OR

      • High School/GED degree + 9 years related work experience

      Desired Qualifications

      • In addition to desired degree, 5 years related work experience

      • Certified Purchasing Manager and/or Certified Professional in Supply Management

      • Demonstrated negotiation, problem solving, analytical and leadership skills

      • Experience with RFP/RFI systems and processes. Sourcing Experience.

      • A natural time manager with the ability to manage a robust workload and pay attention to detail

      Working Conditions

      • Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to the assigned Duke Energy facility.

      • Office with plant and vendor visits, as required
