- Communicate observations, concerns, activities, and progress with the Special Education Teacher and other Therapist or Specialists.
- Assist both Special Education and General Education teachers with minor clerical duties are needed
- Attend trainings as required by Building Principal, Special Education Teacher and/or Director of Special Education.
- Attend student staffings as requested by Special Education Teacher and/or Related Services Providers.
- Support classroom teachers and assist in supervision in one-on-one, lab and classroom environments.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Plans, IEPs, staff and student handbooks.
- Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from general or special education teachers and related services providers.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred, but not required for this position.
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred but not required.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.

DESCRIPTION:School District 27J is seeking a talented special education paraprofessional to support the students of the educational program at the Prairie Vista Youth Services Center. PRVYSC serves youth in Northeast Colorado judicial districts through the Division of Youth Services (DYS). The educational program exists to empower every student so that they can build a positive future and we need your help making this a reality for all of our students. Students are in class five periods per day (Tuesday through Friday) with class sizes of 10 or less and with two adults in the classroom at all times. The maximum number of students we have at any given time is 40. Our students can be anywhere from 12 to 18 years old, transition frequently and can be with us anywhere from 2 days to 2 years. We are looking for a special education paraprofessional who will provide services to special education students with their case manager as well as support all of our students in collaboration with our staff in a lab and in a one-on-one setting. This is a new position so flexibility is a must as we learn how this position will best support our students. This is a non-traditional teaching and learning environment yet our staff will tell you that they feel more valued and have more of an impact in this environment than any other that they have worked in.

The ideal candidate will have:
SALARY: Classified Grade I, $17.88- $22.06 per hour to start, depending on relevant experience. 8 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday, 9 month work schedule, paid over 12 months. Position is eligible for benefits.
