Job Description

- High school diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of college courses with business/accounting classes preferred
- Knowledge of school district organization, operations, and administrative policies
- Ability to multi-task numerous complex administrative activities
- Highly proficient skills in keyboarding, word processing, and file maintenance
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Requires good mathematical skills
- Ability to evaluate data and statistics and translate into a format which meets the needs and requirements of the administration and department
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases and do word processing
- Ability to initiate and complete projects and programs
- Ability to research, compile, analyze and report data clearly
- Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in bookkeeping/accounting role
- Prepare monthly sales tax report and make online payments to the Office of the State Comptroller
- Manage Accounts Receivables and generate and send statements/invoices to customers/vendors as needed
- Assist with the annual audit and other audits by researching and preparing documents requested
- Manage district fundraising activity including approvals, profitability and reporting requirements
- Process Journal Entries for Accounts Payable, Payroll, Internal and other General Ledger items as needed
- Field Trip Billing and reclass
- Boot Camp/JJAEP Billing
- Quarterly Fuel reconciliation
- Quarterly Utilities for GoldStar/ Student Transportation
- Assist with Litigation Settlements with Executive Admin Asst
- Perform General Ledger account reconciliations monthly
- Assist campuses and departments with activity funds; including proper uses, clearing balances, and facilitating training
- Facilitate department projects as needed
- Assist with phone coverage for front desk receptionist
- Participate in District Quarterly Trainings and provide one on one trainings as deemed necessary
- Other administrative duties will be assigned periodically
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently research, assess and validate data
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work in a proactive manner
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
- Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
- Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 40 pounds)
- Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide travel

BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: The Associate Accounting is responsible for maintaining required financial controls and serve as advisor regarding procedures, practices, record keeping and reporting requirements of all finance and accounting activities. The Associate Accounting is under the general supervision of the Director of Finance.
