- Permanent fulltime | 5:2 | Perth based, with occasional site travel
- Develop Communications Action Plans for initiatives across five functional priority areas and ensure a regular drumbeat of communications
- Implement communication strategies that promote positive engagement among the workforce
- Develop, coordinate and distribute communications that support key business priorities
- Identify positive stories that can be shared across Iron Ore channels and/or externally to enhance the reputation of Rio Tinto Iron Ore
- Support the leadership team to identify and escalate potentially contentious issues and develop strategic communications and engagement to manage risks
- Provide strategic and tactical communications and engagement advice and assistance to leaders
- Monitor, report and evaluate communications and engagement impact on driving key People priorities
- Maintain regular liaison with Human Resources team
- Provide best practice advice on communication content and channels and effectiveness
- Ensure appropriate alignment of Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s strategy with communications.
- Strong communication / interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders and build effective partnerships
- Demonstrated background in providing strategic advice in communications and marketing
- Experience in creating engaging content for a range of channels, including internal (The Dig, Yammer, email communications) and external (social media)
- Ability to support events and engagement opportunities with the workforce
- Proficient in the Microsoft office suite of applications
- Ability to work autonomously, drive outcomes and meet action plans
- A drive and eagerness to develop
- Current C-class drivers license
- Related industry exposure
- Behaviour change, culture change and change management experience
- Experience in social media content development, management and metrics tracking

We are looking for a Communications Specialist – People to enhance Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s communications among our workforce and across the communities in which we operate.
This role report to the Principal Advisor – Communications in the External Affairs & Communications team.The role provides direct communications expertise and deliverables to three General Managers across the People team, ensuring leaders are aligned on priorities and messaging.
