      Job summary

      The Pharmacy Department at St George's is innovative, dynamic, successful and highly valued across the Trust. Our patients are at the centre of everything we do, and personal and professional development of our staff is of upmost importance. We are proud of the clinical pharmacy services we deliver and are developing these further through the appointment of a Specialist Pharmacist for Clinical Services.

      We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic pharmacist with a passion for high quality patient care to support the provision, development and evaluation of our clinical services.

      The successful candidate will provide a service to a designated clinical area, as well as contribute to the wider clinical services agenda. Management of the Rotational Band 7 Pharmacist Programme and Resident Pharmacists will be key responsibilities of the postholder, in addition to the clinical induction, training and supervision of new and existing members of staff.

      As an ambitious pharmacist with meticulous attention to detail and exemplary clinical practice, the postholder will support the clinical elements of the weekend, Bank Holiday and on-call pharmacy services and be responsible for evaluating them in conjunction with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist. The postholder will also lead, manage, develop and evaluate the smart infusion pumps across the organisation.

      Main duties of the job

      • To assist the Deputy Chief Pharmacist to provide, manage, develop, and evaluate the delivery of and strategy forresponsive, proactive, patient focused clinical pharmacy services across the Trust.
      • To lead and manage the Trust's smart infusion pumps including education and training of healthcare professionals.
      • To co-ordinate and manage the rotational band 7 pharmacist programme in collaboration with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist.
      • To develop and deliver the clinical education and training programme to pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals.
      • To be responsible for the management of the resident band 6 pharmacists and service in collaboration with the Senior Resident Pharmacist Manager.
      • To initiate, undertake, support and supervise audits, research, projects, quality improvements and service developments within clinical pharmacy services and the department.
      • To work as an advanced level practitioner in a designated clinical area participating in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings as required and prescribing independently.

      The successful applicant will enjoy working in a busy challenging environment, be able to manage multiple priorities and deliver against tight deadlines. The ability to work autonomously and with a high level of accountability is essential. You should possess a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent and have the relevant hospital pharmacy experience.

      • B. Pharm / M. Pharm / BSc (Pharmacy) or equivalent
      • Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
      • Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in either Clinical Pharmacy or General Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent)
      • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
      • Registered Independent Non-medical Prescriber

      Desirable

      • MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or Advanced Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent)
