      Specialist – Transfer Of Class

      Location: - Chennai, India

      What we’re looking for

      We are looking for professionals to ensure compliance with the technical requirements for Transfer Of Class of new and existing ships and other marine/offshore assets. This involves adhering to Lloyd's Register Rules and Regulations and utilizing bespoke IT applications and the technical database to achieve the necessary compliance.

      The role

      • Populate the master record database to ensure a comprehensive "single source of truth" for all Marine and Offshore assets entering LR class.
      • Conduct assessments and provide advice to the Transfer of Class service delivery office, considering safety, technical, legal, and commercial requirements within agreed-upon parameters.
      • Produce the Transfer of Class deliverable in an appropriate format, adhering to agreed parameters, and review colleagues' work upon request.
      • Discuss and present the Transfer of Class deliverable with team managers, offering alternative solutions where applicable.
      • Contribute to internal and external client management as required.
      • Keep up-to-date with the latest data analysis tools, techniques, and best practices.
      • Perform activities in accordance with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
      • Undertake administrative tasks as necessary, following current processes and procedures.
      • Work in compliance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS01.
      • Provide technical training and development support to other technical employees as a buddy.

      What you bring

      • A degree or equivalent from a recognized tertiary organization by Lloyd's Register in the relevant field of naval architecture, engineering, or physical science (minimum of a two-year program), or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution along with relevant sea-going experience.
      • In-depth knowledge of marine propulsion systems, encompassing diesel engines, turbines, and electrical power generation.
      • Substantial proven experience and expertise in Classification and statutory surveys, survey reports, and certificates, either as a class surveyor, flag, port state inspector, ship superintendent, or sea-going engineer/officer.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of handling large datasets and complex data structures.
      • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing accurate and reliable analysis.
      • Working towards achieving Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or Naval Architecture status.
      • Proficiency in the English language at a level commensurate with the demands of the work.
