      The Foundation’s Workforce Development Department (WDD) aims to ensure that all learners in California obtain the knowledge, skills, experiences, and networks needed to connect with meaningful work, expand career options, and increase economic and social mobility. WDD works in four primary areas (1) building capacity within K-12, college, apprenticeship, and workforce development systems to effectively serve learners and businesses; (2) serving as employer-of-record for paid work experience; (3) providing wraparound services resource development support; and (4) developing work-based learning models, tools, and technologies. This work is grounded in a commitment to strengthening systems connectivity, promoting career-relevant, learner-centric education and workforce solutions, and eliminating equity gaps in California.

      What You’ll Do

      This position represents an exciting opportunity to help support the Community of Practice (CoP) and technical assistance related activities for initiatives that focus on the expansion of new and innovative pre-apprenticeships and registered apprenticeships as pathways for low-wage workers to secure middle-skill jobs in California, addressing racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in the labor market, and helping nonprofit organizations provide employment services to justice-involved individuals . The Specialist will support technical assistance activities to aid the Grow Apprenticeship California project, Breaking Barriers to Employment Initiative and the Helping Justice Involved Reenter Employment (HIRE) initiative.

      What You Bring

      • Provide support and thought partnership for the development and implementation of the CoP and related technical assistance activities (e.g., virtual convenings, informational calls, peer learning circles, conference presentations, in-person convenings) for the Grow Apprenticeship California project, Breaking Barriers to Employment Initiative and the Helping Justice Involved Reenter Employment (HIRE) initiative.
      • Schedule and coordinate project activities and support with tracking grant deliverables.
      • Work collaboratively with the Technical Assistance team and Senior Specialist to plan, design, staff, and facilitate various in-person and virtual learning convenings each year.
      • Draft content and find resources to support the monthly apprenticeship newsletter publication.
      • Work collaboratively with the team to conduct research, including data collection, monitoring, analysis, and reporting, to increase understanding of apprenticeship and other workforce development program area impact:
      • Support with tracking relevant grantee/awardee data and present program outcomes
      • Develop post-event attendee satisfaction surveys
      • Adapt related technical assistance activities as needed based on the needs of our CoP and the workforce system.
      • Support efforts to develop toolkits, reports, and resources to benefit and highlight insights from our CoP, technical assistance, and project outcomes.
      • Schedule, coordinate, and support with facilitating external and internal partner meetings
      • Support team with grant reporting timelines, completion, and submission.
      • Build and cultivate relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
      • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and historically marginalized populations through project design and implementation.
      • Participate in team-wide development activities and apply knowledge and experience to support other WDD projects
      • Relevant BA/BS, equivalent work experience, or a combination of both.
      • Minimum of three to five (3-5) + years of related work experience in workforce development, apprenticeship/ pre-apprenticeship, higher education.
      • Minimum of two (2) + years of experience in an education or non-profit environment preferred with experience in project management.
      • Demonstrated professional writing, presentation, and technical research skills required.
      • Proficient in different technological platforms, i.e. Zoom, Salesforce Lightning or other CRM’s, Asana or Slack, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suites required.

      Budgeted Annual Salary Pay Range:

      $66,560.00 - $72,000.00

      Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.
