      The Ministry of Children and Family Development is offering an opportunity for individuals to make a difference in the lives of Children and Youth with Support Needs in British Columbia. Key to this is your support to families and communities in the process of raising their children.

      In your role as a Children and Youth with Support Needs Generalist (CYSN), you may provide a combination of Family Support and guardianship functions. You will convene and facilitate assessment and planning processes with individuals and/or families who have met the CYSN eligibility criteria and determine the supports and services that they require. Coordinating access to the best services available, you collaborate and build relationships with service providers, community partners, contracted agencies and foster parents. From an integrated service delivery system in the Ministry of Children and Family Development you may assist with placements, services for children, liaise and monitor contracts for services and ensure contract compliance and quality/appropriateness of services.

      This position requires strong administrative and organizational skills, the ability to work independently within a collaborative team setting and is comfortable working in a diverse culture environment. The ability to make decisions based on facts/assessments and build effective relationships with the clients is essential. The ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills to effectively deal with high volume of clients, case management and crisis management.

      Job Requirements:
      Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements


      1. Preferred Credentials:

      • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered; OR A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.

      2. Expanded Credentials:

      • Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree.
      • PLUS, a minimum of one year of related OR job-specific work experience.
      • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
      • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.


      Human Services fields include: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.
