- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
- In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered; OR A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.

- Preferred education credentials AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
- Recent work experience (within last five (5) years) in Child Protection.
- Two (2) or more years of Child Protection experience.
- A Child Welfare Specialization from an accredited British Columbia university and who have completed their practicum in a child welfare setting.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).
- Eligible for delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
- Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

- Examples of shift starting times are as follows: 6:00 am – 10:00 am, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm, 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm, and 7:00 pm – 12:00 am.
- Please note there are different shift patterns within these shift opportunities that will be worked on a rotational pattern throughout the year. Each staff person will work a variety of shifts on rotation. **Applicants must be available to work all shifts.
- Currently full-time staff will work a compressed work week consisting of 4 shifts on, 8.75 hours each, resulting in three (3) days off a week.
- As per the relevant collective agreement provisions on paid holidays and dependent upon schedules, staff will earn hours towards additional leave.
- In addition, there may be opportunities for overtime or, alternatively, compensatory time off.

Be part of a team to support Jurisdiction agreement expectations and practice guidelines. This will be a centralized and dedicated team to provide consistent and responsive support to practitioners working with Nations on the path to jurisdiction or exercising jurisdiction. In British Columbia, many Indigenous Nations will be entering into agreements to provide their own Child and Family services and each agreement is unique in terms of laws, service model and service area. MCFD needs to ensure capacity to provide a fulsome response to support the work with our Indigenous Partners.
Knowledge or experience in working with Indigenous Nations will be integral in this role. You will become a subject matter expert with familiarity and repeated practice in working with agreements enabled under the Child, Family and Community Service Act, the Federal Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Metis children, or the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act to provide the best system of support that is effective, efficient, and culturally responsive.

About this Position:
Currently we have 4 full time permanent positions available with Provincial Centralized Screening, Jurisdiction Team.This position can be based at any location(s) listed above.
Current shift opportunities at Provincial Centralized Screening:
Rotating shift pattern: 4 days on, 3 off/ 8.75 hours per shift.
The shift patterns apply to a 24/7 schedule which alternates between Daytime, Evening and Weekend shifts. The shift patterns include Weekdays, Evening and Weekend shifts.Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to four (4) days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.
