What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct comprehensive audits of medical records to ensure compliance with ICD-10-CM coding and documentation standards
- Prepare and present detailed audit reports to leadership, identifying risks and recommending corrective actions
- Deliver educational training programs for providers and coding teams based on audit findings
- Stay updated on regulatory guidelines and coding updates to ensure accuracy in all educational content
- Participate in special projects related to compliance and process improvement initiatives
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Current coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CCA and CPC-A are not accepted)
- Minimum of 3 years of coding experience, with 2-3 years of recent experience in medical audits for diagnosis coding
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CMS-HCC risk adjustment models
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting complex information
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Proven experience in developing and delivering education and training to clinical providers and coders
- Familiarity with healthcare reimbursement processes and insurance regulations
- Experience using various EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications
