What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct medical/non-medical/financial underwriting for new business applications and policy changes
- Calculate appropriate age/amount requirements and face amounts of coverage
- Review and assess AML and governance risk in advance of placing contracts in force
- Liaise with specialists, such as actuaries and medical providers, to understand the medical risk factors
- Maintain excellent reinsurance relationships and negotiate reinsurance agreements
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Undergraduate degree
- 5-10 years of experience in an underwriting environment
- ALU II – working towards F.A.L.U.
- Business numeracy, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Bilingualism in French and English is required
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Advanced Life Underwriter (ALU) designation
- Multilingual skills in languages other than French and English
- Experience working in the financial services industry
- Knowledge of industry trends and regulations
- Strong proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
