Sr. Child Support Case Coordinator - The Department of Community Resources

Salary Range: $45,553.79 - $56,942.24

The Department of Community Resources (DCR) through its Community Resource Center, supports the core departments of Mecklenburg County Health and Human Services (HHS) in doing their business through an integrated service delivery model of subject-matter experts from each core department and community partners who provide services to County residents in our HHS Community Resource Center. In addition, DCR is responsible for administering Child Support Services, Economic Services, MeckSuccess, HOMES, and Unified Workforce Development programs, as well as Integrated Health and Human Services Mail Services.
Position Specific Summary
This position will be working on-site at our Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for assisting case coordinators with their daily work functions and managing child support cases in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and procedures. This position may carry a caseload.
Essential Functions
· Serve as a lead by assigning and monitoring work; prioritizing work; training employees on work methods and procedures; and/or, performing other related activities.
· Establish, enforce and modify child support orders
· Conduct quality reviews of work completed.
· Complete various reports to improve agency performance related to federal incentives and state self-assessment goals
· Collaborate on training needs assessments based on quality review findings
· Manage or provides support to more complex and sensitive cases, as needed
· Serve as a resource for Supervisors and Managers on technical aspects of Child Support Enforcement.
· Serve in a Supervisory capacity when Supervisor is out of the office or when in court
· Answer questions and provide technical expertise to Child Support Case Coordinators
· May be required to staff shelters in the event of a disaster
Mecklenburg County Community Resources: Respond in cases of urgent and/or emergent events that require public health interventions. Employees may be trained for and assigned duties unrelated to their regular work; work outside normal business hours and workdays and/or in a different work location may be required. Emergency events include, but are not limited to, communicable disease outbreaks, severe weather situations (e.g. snow or ice storms, tornados, hurricanes), natural disasters (e.g. earthquakes), fire, or power outages, and acts of terrorism. This includes service on the emergency management team on a two-year rotating cycle.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Experience in child support, case management, eligibility, investigative, financial services, judiciary, or legal work that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the work.
Education:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Services, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice or other relevant field and two years of experience in investigative, judiciary, eligibility or legal work; or an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, human services, law enforcement, criminal justice or other relevant field and four years of experience in investigative, judiciary, eligibility or legal work.

Licenses and Certifications
· Annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check required
· May need to obtain and maintain a valid Mecklenburg County Vehicle Operator’s Permit
