What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Independently develop and oversee research proposals, awards, and transactions related to contract and grant management
- Prepare complex proposal budgets and support documents required by funding guidelines
- Provide guidance and counsel on research administration matters, including compliance regulations
- Maintain contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies
- Assist principal investigators and department administrators with budget preparations across various funding opportunities

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- 4-6 years of experience in contract and grant pre-award management and budget preparation
- Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines and compliance requirements
- Strong organizational and communication skills with a customer service focus
- Demonstrated competence in financial analysis and the use of spreadsheet and database software

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar research awards
- Proficiency in UC Campus financial systems, such as KR, KFS, and UCPath
- Demonstrated skill in interpreting University of California Policies and Procedures related to finance and grants
- Experience administering research funding from major federal agencies like NSF and NIH
