      Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS) team supports infrastructure and other foundational initiatives that span and support Sales, Marketing and Support teams within AWS. In that capacity, we are seeking a well-qualified candidate for the role of Sales Compensation Sr. Specialist (L6). The Sales Compensation Sr. Specialist is responsible for defining the AWS Sales Compensation sale role taxonomy to ensure alignment to the plan policies and guidelines. This includes aligning with Amazon Compensation and HR teams across all regions and business units to ensure compliancy with local laws and regulations. This individual will manage the job descriptions, job families, policy and processes to ensure alignment to sales roles and responsibilities as it pertains to Global Sales Compensation (GSC) eligibility and plan types, policy exceptions. These policies are in support of the AWS sales organizations’ strategic and operational objectives which reinforces the focus of variable pay under a consistent and equitable framework.

      In addition, this position will focus on our current sales jobs roles and responsibilities to ensure they are aligned with our current practices, which results in non-compliance to our approved salary survey data (pay mix) and the GSC plans. The candidate will need to partner with HR, Compensation & Benefits, Legal and sales leadership to define the role taxonomy of the positions, and the framework for determining if a position is eligible for GSC. This initiative would include providing external market understanding and analysis, and competitive analysis as needed. Typical areas of responsibility include anticipating and planning for both short and long term business needs and market trends, developing policies, processes and tools to ensure we remain compliant and have consistency across the business units, and working in collaboration with HR, finance, sales leadership, legal and functional management.



      Key job responsibilities
      Assist in the support of the policies and governance of the GSC plan design process as it relates to job roles and responsibilities and job families.
      • Maintains and applies best-practice understanding of total compensation and more specifically GSC plan principles and frameworks
      • Supports annual sales compensation planning review and design with the most updated view of the sales organization’s roles and responsibilities
      • Identifies key analytics to drive clarity of policies and plan improvements related to consistency of job families
      • Develops and maintains the framework, implementation and communications of the sales role taxonomy initiative
      • Provides the expertise and data analysis to maintain alignment between strategic objectives, sales job families (consistency of sales roles & responsibilities for like positions) and GSC practices
      • Makes recommendations for process and GSC plan effectiveness improvements
      • Supports programs to ensure effective plan governance (including design process, plan documentation, policy review and Tier Approval processes)
      • Provides input and consultation to HRBPs, recruiting and sales management to ensure understanding and consistency of the assignment of job roles
      • Prepares formal and informal presentations for business stakeholders
      • On-going production of formal business writing in a narrative format as primary means of conveying ideas, proposals and assessments to management and stakeholder
      • Collaborates with sales leadership, Amazon Compensation, HRBPs, recruiting, sales operations, finance and legal to drive the consistency of job roles and responsibilities and plan eligibility across the AWS sales organization. Including incorporating Enterprise philosophy, and demonstrating sound understanding of business and desired behaviors
      • Manages the input of AWS sales participation into the competitive salary survey data input process.

      • 5 years of sales compensation experience to include experience with best practices and innovative critical process/policy thinking
      • Prior experience managing multiple projects under strict timelines
      • Microsoft Office experience
      • Prior experience working with spreadsheet applications utilizing complex formulas
      • MBA preferred, and management experience
      • Presentation and communication skills, including consultative problem-solving skills
      • Business writing ability and experience, as preferred means of internal communication of ideas, discussion, assessment and feedback
      • Organizational skills and attention to detail
      • Customer-centric
      • Matrix management, cross-functional collaboration and ability to influence without authority
      • Certified Sales Compensation Professional (CSCP) or CCP strongly preferred
      • High level of financial acumen, to include forecasting and financial modeling
      • Experience within high-tech industry
      • Experience with global sales programs
      • Work well in a demanding dynamic environment to prioritize activities and meet overall objectives

      Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $199,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
