      Job Description:

      This is a Member of Technical Staff role that reports into the Wireless Technology Business Unit in the Mobile Core and Network Services team. This is an entry level role where you will make substantial technical contributions to design and development of user plane architecture on LTE, 5G non-standalone (NSA), and 5G standalone (SA) mobile cores.

      A qualified applicant will be a quick learner with a solid engineering background and a sound approach to technical problem solving. Good skills working with both internal and external teams and a collaborative, Win-as-One attitude are essential.

      Job Contribution:

      In this role you will have opportunities to grow your technical and professional skill sets on the team responsible for design and development of AT&T’s mobile core user plane. Our user plane provides service for the entire AT&T mobile network on massive scale; throughput in excess of 3Tbps to over 100M subscribers. This role is hands-on with functional, interoperability, performance, capacity, and service-related design and certification activities. You will work closely with outside equipment vendors as well as with AT&T design, engineering, and operations teams.

      Experience:

      The following skills and experience are a summary of what you will use and grow in this role. Experience is helpful but not required.

      • Knowledge of IP, TCP, HTTP, QUIC, TLS, and other L2-L7 protocols.
      • Experience with Linux, virtualization, cloud-native, and hyperscale technologies. Specific experience with Openstack and/or Cloud Native (containers, Kubernetes, Azure etc.) a plus.
      • Programming and scripting languages (C, python, Perl, bash).
      • Specific experience with test equipment including Spirent, IXIA, protocol analyzers, Wireshark, etc.
      • Knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
      • Mobile standards (3GPP) or other experience with LTE and/or 5G, particularly mobile core, charging, policy, VoLTE, etc.

      Education Requirement:

      • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline e.g. Computer Science, or Engineering.

      Our Sr. Specialist Member of Technical Staff earn between $122,000.00 – $183,000.00 USD, annually. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
