      Join our dynamic and growing Pasadena-based property management firm, managing a diverse portfolio of 15 properties across five Southern California counties. We are hiring a Staff Accountant II to join our Finance Department in a salaried, exempt position. This role is classified as exempt under the administrative exemption as defined by California and federal labor laws. The Staff Accountant performs work directly related to the management and general business operations of the company and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

      Summary Of Position

      The Staff Accountant is responsible for complex financial analysis and reporting that supports the strategic and operational goals of the business. This position operates with limited supervision, evaluates alternatives, and recommends or implements solutions that align with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements. The role involves interpreting and applying accounting standards, policies, and procedures and ensuring financial data integrity.

      Essential Duties And Responsibilities

      • Independently prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages for multiple legal entities within the company's property portfolio.
      • Oversee and execute the full month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP).
      • Compile, analyze, and interpret financial information to create meaningful reports and support management in decision-making.
      • Design and implement accounting processes and internal controls to ensure compliance with financial policies, regulatory standards, and operational efficiency.
      • Develop and maintain detailed audit packages; serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax professionals, exercising independent judgment in the interpretation of accounting data.
      • Configure and manage RealPage Financial Suite settings and custom reports to optimize financial workflows and meet organizational needs.
      • Reconcile complex general ledger accounts and investigate variances, trends, and discrepancies.
      • Collaborate with senior management to develop operating budgets and financial forecasts.
      • Analyze property-specific financial data to inform strategic decisions and enhance profitability.
      • Interpret and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including tax codes and reporting obligations.
      • Participate in cross-departmental initiatives and serve as a subject-matter expert on accounting-related matters.
      • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in handling confidential financial data and recommending policy and process improvements.

      Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, or equivalent education and professional experience.
      • RealPage experience is preferred
      • A minimum of three years of increasingly responsible accounting experience, preferably within the real estate or property management industry.
      • Advanced understanding of GAAP, accounting systems, and financial reporting requirements.
      • Demonstrated experience using RealPage or comparable property management accounting software.
      • Proven ability to identify problems, analyze information, and independently develop solutions.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
      • High attention to detail, organization, and accountability.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office productivity software.

      Conditions of Employment

      • This is a salaried, exempt position, not eligible for overtime compensation.
      • Successful completion of background and credit checks required.
      • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
