Job Description

- Perform administrative support for the Department as assigned, including but not limited to composing correspondence/memorandums, payroll maintenance, preparing reports, distributing information to the public, registering participants, reserving facilities and other administrative duties.
- Act as an assistant with concise communication skills to handle community questions and distribute information to appropriate staff in a professional manner.
- Ability to handle extensive, high volume telephone calls, park visitor inquiries and public communications for recreation facilities.
- Assist with preparing and organizing marketing and public information for the Department.
- Administer the CivicRec computer programs to include maintaining daily operations; training staff; monitoring, updating and correcting user mistakes.
- Collect, secure and turn in appropriate facility and participant user fees.
- Complete daily deposits of all recreation programs, community events and facility rental revenues.
- Administer volunteer background checks using LiveScan fingerprint equipment.
- Assist with the Department’s procurement process using Tyler Munis.
- Assist with planning, promoting, and implementing programs and events.
- Uphold a well-rounded knowledge of general recreational activities.
- Maintain an inventory of general office supplies for the Department.
- Maintain retention records for the Department, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Operate City vehicle for transportation of materials, personnel, and participants.
- Assist with Department of Leisure Services’ projects as assigned.
- Drive to and from City work sites. Perform additional duties as assigned. Be available for emergency call-outs.
- In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description.
- Complete required trainings as specified within the City Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
- Two (2) years of experience in a professional or education environment to include experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet search engines, and email communication.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid driver license. Must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment.
- Accounting experience.
- Budgeting experience.
- Social media experience.
- Recreation software experience.
Perform administrative duties to support programs, facility reservations, community events, and staff operations for the Department.
Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement and the CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) Security Clearance process to include national fingerprint-based records check and approval for controlled access to protected information.
Position is considered at-risk for exposure to Hepatitis B during performance of regular duties. An acceptance/ declination of vaccination form is required.About the company
