What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform legal and policy research and analysis to support legislative initiatives
- Draft bills, amendments, and other legislative documents for Senate members
- Develop and evaluate policy alternatives to assist Senators in achieving their goals
- Present legislation and policy matters before legislative committees
- Monitor and analyze implementation efforts by state and local government agencies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Knowledge of or interest in learning the legislative process
- Proven ability to perform high-quality, objective research and analysis
- Excellent analytical, writing, problem-solving, and oral communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Capability to handle complex situations in a fast-paced legislative environment
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- A law degree or master's degree in public administration, public policy, or a related field
- Experience working in government or a legislative environment
- Familiarity with legislative processes and policy development
- Strong presentation skills and experience in public speaking
- Background in research methodologies and data analysis
