- Applied degree or diploma in a program of natural resource law enforcement; OR,
- University degree or technical diploma in natural resource management; OR,
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Preference may be given to for a professional designation in a natural resource discipline (e.g. RFT, RPBio, or equivalent).
- Ability to be designated as a Special Provincial Constable in accordance with Compliance and Enforcement Branch policies.
- Must have and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Driver's licence, or equivalent, or be immediately eligible to attain one.
- Willing and able to travel frequently.
- Willing and able to work weekends and non-standard work shifts.
- Willing and able to work outdoors in all types of weather and challenging terrain.
- Willing and able to operate a variety of equipment, including but not limited to off road vehicles and boats (do not have to have certification at this time, but be willing and able to get certification to operate).
- Required to hold an Occupational First Aid Level 1 certificate, or equivalent (or willing and able to obtain certificate immediately upon hire).
Bring your commitment to excellence in natural resource management practicesOverseeing a land base of 94.8 million hectares, the Ministry of Forests leads and delivers programs which ensure the sustainable management of BC’s natural resources. Within this large, diverse and complex structure, the Compliance and Enforcement Branch (CEB) represents the law enforcement arm of the Ministry. The CEB - a provincial line of sight program - applies over 50 statutes to govern over 1,200 natural resource authorizations, deploys natural resource operations teams to ensure compliance and enforcement of resource management laws, and protects the public’s interest in the management of BC’s diversity of natural resources.
As a Natural Resource Officer, you will lead and investigate complex investigations of significant legislative offences (criminal and administrative) and ensure compliance with legislation, policies and other standards. About this Position:
This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Forests’ Compliance and Enforcement Branch offices in the Coast Area: Campbell River, Nanaimo, Squamish, Chilliwack.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
