Job Description

- Oversee Sales Associates and Front Office employees.
- Recruit and hire quality employees to meet the needs of business
- Create schedules and assign duties to employees
- Conduct daily floor walks to ensure a presentable appearance, correct tagging of merchandise, find safety issues, etc.
- Train and mentor new employees and provide continuing education to existing employees
- Track sales quotas for the store and employees based on the financial goals dictated by the corporate office
- Evaluate employees based on performance metrics
- Pull and post all AFW newspaper ads to ensure correct tagging of advertised merchandise.
- Scheduling and hiring of needed employees. Maintaining proper coverage in all areas.
- Daily monitoring of all department operations.
- Oversee store opening and closing procedures: ensuring exterior doors are properly secured, exterior and interior lights on or off, all alarms are set, and doors locked.
- Oversee daily cleaning and appearance of store which includes assigning cleaning duties as necessary.
- Enforcement of all company policies and procedures.
- And all other duties assigned by the Store, Regional, or Operations Manager as directed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with experience as a Store Manager or similar role
- Budgeting and payroll experience
- Hands on experience with STORIS software, Moxtra, and Microsoft Suite

Shift: Various shifts from 5am-10pm.
Reports to: Store Manager
Job Summary:
As an Assistant Store Manager, you will be responsible for the store’s employees, including mentoring, interviewing, hiring, terminating, performance evaluations, scheduling and assigning duties. You will also be responsible for maintaining the store’s brand, ensuring continuous delivery of outstanding customer service, and that your staff also promotes the American Furniture Warehouse culture. You will oversee standards of the store with the direction of the Store, Regional, and Operations Manager as well as executive. The ideal Assistant Store Manager develops strategies to improve customer service, drives store sales, increases profitability, and strives to grow the existing customer base. This position requires previous Retail Management experience preferably in a furniture setting.

Compensation Package:
Pay rate: Salary ranges from $59,072-88,608 per year
Supervision Given and Received:
This position supervises a large staff of 50+ employees any given time. This position is supervised directly by the Store or Facility Manager depending on location.

Personal Competencies:
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
Computer Skills:
Ability to navigate multiple computer systems, type 35+ wpm, advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), advanced internet research skills, and experience with STORIS. Ability to regularly use computers for ordering, communication, documentation, scheduling, maintenance of organizational content on shared drives.
Certificates and Licenses:
Certifications and licenses related to business are preferred.
Education and Experience:
Four-year college or university program degree; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
