      Background: Equitable is currently executing an actuarial model modernization program. Model Risk Management recently established a Strategic Model Development team to (1) oversee and accelerate progress in model modernization initiatives and (2) define additional changes to support end-state model visions that further improve the usability and robustness of core models. The Strategic Model Development Risk Actuary has a unique opportunity to support a new team in Model Risk Management and apply/grow analytic skills for important actuarial topics.

      Opportunities include:

      • Help establish a new team
      • Enhance modeling and risk management skills
      • Deepen understanding of the company’s core models, products, assumptions, and processes; including Accumulator / Retirement Cornerstone, Structured Capital Strategies, and Variable & Interest Sensitive Life models
      • Exposure to Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and other leaders within Risk Management, Actuarial, and Finance
      • Positively impact decision making by improving the models used for financial reporting, risk measurement, and business decisions
      • Work closely together and collaborate with the Actuarial team and other departments within Risk, while being part of the Model Risk Management team (a growing industry-wide risk practice area)

      Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

      • Support progress of complete end-state model visions for core models and help drive them to completion
      • Support review of model development plans and roadmaps to ensure they reflect optimal approaches
      • Research, development, and propose improvements for models and related processes
      • Provide vision implementation support as needed, by augmenting Actuarial model development team resources
      • Explore modeling best practices to ensure models are fully fit for purpose
      • Share best practices across core models
      • Coordinate with Actuarial model development teams, valuation teams, and other stakeholders as needed
      • Support the Model Validation and Model Risk Governance teams within Model Risk Management as needed

      The base salary range for this position is $94,000-$137,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Statistics and/or Economics
      • ASA Designation with 3+ years of actuarial experience to include modeling, valuations, pricing and/or risk management OR 4+ SOA Exams with 5+ years of actuarial experience to include modeling, valuations, pricing and/or risk management
      • Must possess accountability, high quality of work ethic, established organizational skills and be a good self-starter
      • Experience with liability/asset modeling and actuarial projection systems, Moody’s Analytics AXIS
      • Software skills including MS Office

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • FSA Designation
      • Experience with Variable Annuities with enhanced Guarantees (GMxB’s), RILA, and/or Universal/Variable/Indexed Life Insurance
