      Overview

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities critical to this role:

      • Applied knowledge: Must have basic knowledge of strength and conditioning for different populations and ability to utilized new sport science hardware and software technologies
      • Decision making skills: Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the best course of action regarding strength training and conditioning for individuals and teams.
      • Attention to detail: Strength coaches should be thorough and detailed with documentation and planning of programs.
      • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situation when talking to athletes, patients, coaches, medical professionals, staff, and families.

      Responsibilities

      Essential Functions:

      • Use provided high-performance software to create a database of exercises, exercise modules, sessions, and programs that can be readily applied by high school athletic trainers and coaches
      • Conduct site visits at assigned high schools to initiate the new strength and conditioning services
      • Train assigned staff at each high school how to utilize the training software and how to implement the training programs (e.g., teach exercise technique)
      • Collaborate with Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers to idealize data-driven injury risk mitigation, rehabilitation, and return-to-activity programs using available hardware and software technologies.
      • Communicate with athletic trainers at each high school, Physical Therapy clinic staff, and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and quality of service at all times.

      Additional Responsibilities :

      • Adheres to organizational and department specific safety standards and guidelines.
      • Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members.
      • Conduct site visits at high schools to assess needs and facilities in order to refine training modules, sessions, and programs that can be implemented at most sites with minimal modification (e.g., due to facilities, equipment, etc.).
      • Provide feedback to high school athletic directors or coaches about how to increase safety while fully maximizing available training facilities and equipment. Make recommendations for new equipment that can further enhance the site’s training efficacy.
      • Work with high school athletic directors and coaches to coordinate strength and conditioning onboarding requirements at each location.
      • Conduct reviews of literature in order to develop evidence-based training applications that are appropriate for different challenges faced in the high-school setting across the year (e.g., environmental stress, transition periods, return-to-play, etc.).
      • Draft and test decision trees that will enable real-time closed-loop assessment-intervention work flow for the Physical Therapy clinic staff.
      • Provide ongoing tech support and education to high school stakeholders to insure smooth delivery of training programming.
      • Interview assigned staff at each site on an ongoing basis to gain greater understanding of the use case in order to continually improve the service.
      • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct.
      • Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times.
      • Perform other duties as assigned

      Qualifications

      Education:

      • Minimal education (required) – Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related discipline from an accredited college/university.
      • Preferred education – Actively pursuing or completed a master’s degree in exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, or related discipline at accredited college/university

      Experience:

      • Minimum experience (required): documented strength and conditioning experience as a volunteer or intern in a high school, college, or private strength and conditioning setting
      • Desired experience: At least 2 years of volunteer, intern, or other experience in a formal strength and conditioning setting

      Certification:

      • Minimum certification requirements (required): American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) before the first day of the internship, CSCS

      Preferred certification(s):

      • Either ATC, SCCC, or plans to acquire certification
