What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Oversee the daily operations of The Ledger and Tahoma West, providing guidance to editorial and advertising staff
- Manage production cycles and vendor relationships for student publications
- Advise on event planning and execution for Tahoma West and other initiatives
- Supervise a team of 16-24 student workers and provide training in journalism and media skills
- Monitor and manage budgets, ensuring compliance with university policies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- Minimum of three years of experience in print or digital journalism, including design and layout
- Strong understanding of media law and ethics
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master's degree in Education, Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- Experience in training and hiring college students for media roles
- Familiarity with multiple media platforms to enhance student publications
- Background in advising student publications in a higher education setting
- Demonstrated passion for creative writing and the arts
