- Perform general reception duties including but not limited to maintaining a clean, orderly and professional reception area and responding to general inquiries by phone and email.
- Maintain tool supply, manage tool orders, and sell tool kits.
- Prepare and disseminate studio signage, printed promotional materials and paperwork.
- Register students for classes, lectures, workshops, etc.
- Support the Education Coordinator in creating and editing class schedules.
- Mix and maintain clay, glazes, slips, and washes for the studio.
- Assist with unloading clay and supply deliveries.
- Load and unload kilns.
- Maintain a dust free work environment and use proper safety equipment and clean up.
- Open and close the building daily.
- Provide tours to visitors and new students.
- Support the student and faculty in understanding and following studio protocol and procedure.
- Assist with on- and off-site events.
- A desire to work in the field of ceramics, preferably a BFA in ceramics or equivalent knowledge and hands-on experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently with strong social and communication skills.
- At least of one year of experience with customer-facing or service industry work.
- A self-starter who works well without close supervision and can establish priorities when presented with multiple tasks.
- Ability to interact with a diverse student body, faculty and all levels of staff.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
- Familiarity with Sawyer, the Adobe Suite, and/or Shopify platforms a plus.
- Must be willing and able to work evenings and/or weekends. Ideal candidates will have a flexible schedule with the capacity to cover for other studio assistants as needed.
