  Department Overview:	Suicide prevention efforts at UHS involve population-level, strategic initiatives at UW-Madison. UHS works to strengthen campus practices and policies, reduce stigma, cultivate a campus environment with supportive conditions/protective factors, and build the capacity of all members of the campus community to support student mental health and prevent suicide.

  Schedule:	The Suicide Prevention Graduate Assistant is expected to work 20 hours per week (50% appointment) with those hours scheduled between Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM. This is a primarily onsite position with the possibility of some remote hours.
  Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:	Minimum: $34.26 per hour

  Qualifications:	- Bachelor’s Degree (Psychology, Social Work, Education, Population Health, Public Health or a related field preferred) - Must be enrolled in a graduate or professional program at UW-Madison (minimum length of appointment September 2025-May 2026, with ability to start June 2025 if eligible)
  Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:	- Experience with evaluation, data analysis, and report writing - Must be a strong communicator, including writing and editing skills - Able to work both independently and as part of a team - Well-organized, flexible, and able to effectively manage time while working on multiple projects - Commitment to suicide prevention and mental health promotion Competitive candidates might also have: - In-depth knowledge of evidence-based suicide prevention strategies - Facilitation and presentation experience - Experience developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs - Experience using Qualtrics, Box, Teams, Excel, Canvas, Rise360, and university-sponsored technologies - Strong project management skills
  Position Summary/Job Duties:	1. Suicide Prevention Education and Mental Health Promotion - Implement prevention and health promotion education programs on suicide prevention in conjunction with campus resources and community partners - Support team’s development/deployment of education, training, and public health communication materials - Support population-level primary prevention efforts of team (policy, systems, environmental strategies on campus) 2. Program Evaluation - Plan ongoing assessment and evaluation of multiple universal prevention education initiatives, collect and analyze data, and report out on findings to internal and external partners - Develop written reports and shareable program evaluation summaries - Facilitate small group discussions and/or focus groups 3. General Prevention Support - Attend internal and external meetings, webinars, and trainings - Research and literature review on topics related to suicide prevention, bystander intervention, population health - Represent Suicide Prevention team in collaborative projects across Prevention, UHS, campus, and/or in the community
