Summer Camp Counselor Assistant
Fort Worth Zoo, 1989 Colonial Pkwy, Fort Worth, Texas, United States of America Req #562Wednesday, December 14, 2022Summary:Assist camp counselors to create a connection between campers and animals that will impact the campers desire to care for the natural world. Assist counselors with lessons and activities both indoors and outdoors while monitoring camper safety and participation. Counselor assistants also are responsible for creating an exciting and welcoming environment through their enthusiastic pursuit of accomplishing camp goals and inspiring campers in the natural world.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Assist with supervising the safety of campers• Assist with preparing materials for lessons and activities• Responsible for their group during the camp day, participating in all activities and monitoring camper participation and enjoyment• Must work with other counselors as a team• Respectful of camp schedule and is prompt and on time to activities• Assists with camper drop off and pick up
Qualifications:• Must be at least 16 years of age• Must commit to working at least 7 weeks between the dates of June 5-Aug 11• Able to attend required Staff training on June 1 and June 2• Enjoys working with children• Comfortable speaking in front of groups• Demonstrates enthusiasm for goals and mission of Zoo Camp• Strong leadership and collaborative skills• Able to work independently and on a team• Organizational and multi-tasking skills• Customer service skills
Education and Experience:• High school sophomore or higher• Experience working with children ages 4-10 years
Physical Demands:• Counselor assistants will be outside, leading and participating in a variety of physical activities with campers. Counselor assistants should be able to tolerate the heat for long periods of time, and able to walk throughout the Zoo multiple times a day
Requested Availability: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm
