      Caterpillar Inc. seeks Supplier Development Engr at its facility located at 1720 W Kingsbury St, Seguin, TX 78155. Assess supplier quality and ensure products are free from defects and in compliance with manufacturing specifications and legal standards. Conduct tests and assessments on incoming supplies to identify quality issues. Develop supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanism. Generate reports on supplier quality, monitor defect rates and areas of potential flaws. Guide suppliers to reduce defect rates. Research potential vendors, assess manufacturing environment, practices, and procedures. Conduct supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with organizational and federal policies and standards. Support suppliers in improving performance through process enhancements, implementing process controls, and developing quality assurance plans. Evaluate product quality and production methods and focus on continuous improvement of processes, products and services. Identify process problems and implement methods to improve and establish controls for critical processes. Surface systemic problems to be addressed at the organizational level. Use knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques. Meet quality goals. Use objective quality criteria and data to drive decisions. Document learnings regarding quality outcomes so data can be used for improvement. Use knowledge of production part approval processes (ppap) elements, submissions, and objective. Determine whether suppliers can manufacture products that meet quality requirements and standards. Develop testing and validation procedures to test the quality of manufactured parts/products to meet customer standards. Serve as trusted advisor for assigned supply base through the following functional responsibilities. Assess potential suppliers via on-site Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management (QCLDM) audits, drive implementation of Lean, BIQ, & APQP, continuously review supplier capacity, assure production readiness through rigorous review of supplier PPAP submission. Collaborate with suppliers to assure proper process control standards and continuously monitor key manufacturing processes for improvement opportunities. Ensure suppliers have adequate people, training, tooling, fixturing, and equipment. Provide technical support during start-up activities and provide ongoing strategic support. Monitor suppliers’ adherence to PCN (Process Change Notification) on a timely and cost-effective basis to develop the supply base to fulfil the total requirements from Caterpillar Production System (CPS) implementation. Serve in a technical leadership role as QCLDM champion for suppliers and assure technical development to meet qualified supply network strategies. Support category strategies, supplier development and performance management and provide technical leadership in new supplier selection. Evaluate and develop new supplier’s technological capability to meet requirements for Caterpillar Inc. REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Process Engineering or a related field and 3 years of experience in a Supplier Quality Management occupation or related. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with (1) Statistical process capability such as CPK or PPK; (2) Root cause corrective actions such as 8D methodology; (3) Product Quality Planning/APQP; (4) AIAG PPAP Approval Process; and (5) 3 years of Experience interpreting manufacturing part prints. Telecommuting: 2 days/week. Travel: 25% Domestic.

      Summary Pay Range:

      $95,640.00 - $143,520.00
