      Freese and Nichols is seeking an experienced hydraulic transient engineer to serve as a discipline lead of FNI’s surge modeling team. Management of surge modeling projects for the water and wastewater industry is the primary focus of this position with a secondary focus of business development. The Candidate will lead surge modeling projects and support internal and external design teams. Interest and ability to supervise, coach and mentor technical staff is desired. The position encompasses support of business development activities, including proposal preparation, client visits, and support of marketing activities. Occasional travel for professional development, project and client meetings is required. Build project teams, prepare proposals and presentations, lead shortlist interviews. Participate in marketing activities including professional societies, attend and present at professional conferences, conduct presentations for societies and/or clients and prepare articles for external and internal publications. Maintain effective communications with client, client’s staff, and regulatory agencies. Remain state-of-the-art on existing and pending regulations and related technological advancements. Participate in the administration, interpretation, and implementation of contracts.

      As the Surge Modeling Manager, you will be responsible for project management, client interactions and supporting internal design teams across the United States. Candidate should have hydraulic transient and flow assurance experience and will be working with Bentley Hammer and Synergy Pipeline Simulator (SPS).

      • 15+ years of experience in hydraulic transient engineering/analysis. 20+ years preferred.
      • 5+ years of experience serving as project manager,
      • Experience in water/wastewater industry is required; oil and gas industry experience is a plus.
      • Education - B.S. degree in Engineering (minimum); M.S. in Engineering (preferred).
      • Excellent communication skills – both technical writing and oral.
      • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a project team and oversee excellent quality of work.
      • Commitment to technical excellence and the continuous professional development of self and responsible support staff.
      • Professional Engineer license and the ability to become licensed in Texas within 6 months is required.
