What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review and interpret health record documentation to identify all relevant diagnoses and procedures
- Ensure that health record documentation supports all assigned diagnoses and procedures
- Assign accurate codes to diagnoses and procedures using knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and clinical terminology
- Select principal diagnoses and procedures according to established guidelines and coding systems
- Assist patient billing services by ensuring clean claims submission for medical necessity
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding systems
- Certification required: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA
- Minimum of two (2) years of coding experience
- Proficiency in health information management practices
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- Preferred certifications: RHIA or RHIT
