What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Read and interpret health record documentation to identify all diagnoses and procedures
- Assess the adequacy of health record documentation to ensure proper coding
- Assign accurate codes to diagnoses and procedures using CPT and ICD-10 coding systems
- Apply knowledge of disease processes and surgical procedures to classify medical terms
- Assist patient billing services in submitting clean claims for medical necessity
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding systems
- Certification as CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA
- Minimum of two (2) years of coding experience
- Must possess proof of legal authority to work in the United States
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management
- Preferred certification as RHIA or RHIT
- Additional certifications in coding (CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA)
