What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Welcome patients by greeting them in person or on the telephone, addressing inquiries
- Schedule all surgical cases for physicians at the appropriate facility, ensuring correct equipment is ordered
- Coordinate pre-admission testing, lab work, and diagnostic imaging as necessary
- Obtain medical clearance from primary care physicians and specialists
- Monitor and track authorization requests and expiring authorizations, ensuring all documentation is accurate
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred
- Minimum one year of experience in surgery or procedure scheduling in a medical practice
- Ability to use computerized systems and experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, particularly GE Centricity
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with a proven ability to provide excellent customer service
