      The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

      Imagery Programs Division’s (IPD) Reconnaissance Systems (RS) Office is looking for a leader to with an understanding of space vehicle and space architecture system engineering, mission and quality assurance, mission engineering functions (architecture performance analysis, system architecting, future requirements development), mission operations (operations support, space-ground engineering), and space resiliency engineering. This role will lead a team supporting the mission system engineering function for a major system acquisition and help field a capability critical to the national space defense architecture.

      This position requires 100% in person work in Chantilly, VA

      What You’ll Be Doing

      • Establishing organization objectives to achieve scope, growing and developing the Aerospace team as needed, assigning staff functional responsibilities, and participating with Aerospace management team in budget and resource planning and allocation
      • Leading team in space vehicle level requirements trades and sell-off, program engagement in space enterprise level testing, and mission performance analyses
      • Managing parts, materials, processes, mission assurance, and quality assurance program functions
      • Coordinating Aerospace team involvement in and support to space-to-ground interface development and validation
      • Supporting resiliency requirements and capability development to meet mission needs
      • Guiding team engagement in support of baseline operational mission and supporting initiation of next generation mission operations


      What You Need to be Successful

      Minimum Requirements:

      • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline
      • Twelve or more years of space system acquisition or systems engineering experience that includes technical leadership
      • Understanding of and experience working with a matrixed engineering organization.
      • Experience with space system engineering-related processes with in-depth knowledge of one or more technical engineering areas.
      • End-to-end knowledge of space system operations
      • Program Office experience working directly with contractors and government customers.
      • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

      It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

      • Advanced degree in engineering or a related technical discipline
      • Broad experience in all phases of the space system enterprise, from requirements specification through development, manufacturing, testing, verification, launch, and on-orbit operations
      • Experience across all elements of the space system enterprise: System engineering, ground, space vehicle, launch, supporting functions
      • Experience with personnel and project management, team-building, allocating resources, and mentoring
      • Experience working with national security space customers
      • Familiarity with government acquisition practices for Major System Acquisitions (MSAs)
