      About RSM

RSM is a leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services to middle market leaders, globally. With around 4,700 partners and staff in the UK and access to 64,000 people in over 120 countries across the RSM network, we can meet our clients’ needs wherever in the world they operate as well as offering brilliant careers to our employees. Indeed, we are "2 star" accredited by Best Companies, achieving the rating of "outstanding organisation to work for". We also placed in the "Best Accountancy Firms" category and have been named within the UK’s Top 10 "Best Big Company".

When you become part of our team, you’ll discover a culture celebrating individuality, fresh-thinking, flexibility and collaboration, whilst not only embracing change but impacting it. We’re simply not a one-size-fits-all firm and work hard to create an environment where our people can make a difference - to themselves, their career, their teams, and to the success of RSM and our clients. As our Head of Tax summarises, “personality and fun are as big a part of our culture as is our passion for delivering a premium service to our clients… That sense of team is what attracts clients and staff alike to RSM, and it’s one of the things I love about RSM!”

      About the team

RSM’s Talent Acquisition Department (TA) is spread across the UK and plays a crucial part within the firm nationally. We are responsible for the co-ordination, management, and strategic direction of the business’ recruitment across Early Careers and Experienced & Executive hiring. We pride ourselves on ensuring the recruitment experience for all parties – applicants, hiring managers and partners – is efficient and of the highest quality. One of TA’s key responsibilities is to recruit the right person into the right job. If you wish to sit at the heart of a collaborative and innovative organisation where you can make a positive impact daily, our team is where you should be!

      About the role

Within Early Careers (EC), we focus on the recruitment of graduates and school leaves for our trainee programmes, which offer study support towards one or more relevant professional qualification(s), in addition to a variety of work experiences such as Work Shadowing, Internships and an Industrial Placement.

As a TA Senior Specialist, you will be integral to EC achieving high-volume recruitment whilst ensuring the delivery of an excellent service to all involved within the hiring process by supervising a small team of TA Specialist(s) and/or Co-ordinator(s). Leading by example, you will also be a key and reliable contact for applicants as they undertake the first section of assessments, providing prompt and high-quality communications over the phone and email to create an environment where candidates are positively engaged and most likely to perform at their best, thus facilitating quality of hire. You will form and exude recruitment best practice, advising the business and your team on process and policy whilst proactively seeking improvement. The variety of queries and projects will challenge you every day, helping you expand your capabilities and grow professionally.

      Responsibilities:

      • Oversee a small team, made up of TA Specialist(s) and/or Co-ordinator(s) to ensure applicants are efficiently managed and supported within your area from application to Virtual Assessment Centre (VAC) invitation (and beyond as appropriate).
      • Continually monitor and have a strong understanding of the team’s pipelines, regularly articulating and reporting to the EC TA Manager – Process & Quality and other members of the business upon request.
      • Proactively identify problematic pipelines and liaise with Outreach and Engagement colleagues to agree priorities and strategic attraction activities, involving hiring managers and partners as required.
      • As a people supervisor, be a visible, positive role model, including delegation and taking an active role in their training and career development via on-the-job coaching, reinforcing training, and carrying out requested feedback and career conversations with the support of the EC Manager.
      • Demonstrate and impart good knowledge of EC processes, recruitment policies and best practise, educating the team, and hiring managers and partners on assessment tools and legal obligations when necessary.
      • Regularly and accurately update and monitor the VAC Calendar(s) and EC tracker(s), crucial in enabling real-time reporting for EC and business updates.
      • Maintain contact with candidates through the initial assessment stages (and beyond as appropriate), developing rapport and acting as a RSM ambassador.
      • Screen candidate application forms, ensuring minimum requirements are met and applying reasonable adjustments when suitable.
      • Review video interviews, applying the approved, fair and consistent method of scoring.
      • Phone and email candidates, answering questions and/or requesting additional information, such as Right to Work (RTW) evidence, whilst exemplifying excellent customer service.
      • Demonstrate and utilise a strong knowledge of RSM, our Service Lines and roles available as well as the associated professional qualification pathways.
      • Make full use of the technology available, including RSM’s in-house Applicant Tracking System (ATS), our Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) and the external screening tool (Cappfinity).
      • Ensure your team similarly utilise technology successfully to record candidate communications and key actions resulting in accurate reporting.
      • Make sure the group EC inbox is collaboratively and consistently maintained, with queries being directed and handled efficiently including escalations to the EC TA Manager where appropriate.
      • Monitor candidate engagement throughout the selection process, making recommendations for improvements.
      • Assist Outreach and Engagement colleagues with developing ideas to promote the firm locally and nationally, attending events to support and actively promote our employer brand.
      • As required, support with the organisation of Assessment Centres, in-person interviews and offers, drafting letters.
      • Proactive involvement in EC-, TA-, and firm- wide initiatives and projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established but creative team at an exciting part of the journey, working on a hybrid basis and reaping the rewards of being at home and in the office on a weekly basis. Whilst not an entirely remote position, this role affords good agile and flexible working. Due to the location of existing team members and business needs, ideally applicants will reside near one of the following offices:

      • Birmingham
      • Glasgow
      • Edinburgh
      • Manchester
      • Nottingham
      • Preston

You will also have the chance to visit other offices nationally but, wishing to minimise our carbon footprint, this will likely be occasional (up to twice a year).

      About the ideal candidate

This role is suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, undertaking multiple tasks and balancing several key priorities with varying deadlines. You will work proactively, reactively and flexibly in order to manage and support applicants through the initial assessment stages, fulfilling an exceptional candidate experience. You will guide those within your team to do the same, thus familiarity with mentoring, actively supporting colleagues and/or people supervision is required. Prior experience within a recruitment role is also essential, preferably within a high-volume Early Careers environment, with active involvement in improvement implementation and consistent demonstration of best practice. Good knowledge of Microsoft packages with an enthusiasm to learn and embrace new systems are necessary.

The following competencies are also very important:

      • Communication and interpersonal skills - communication is key within the role as you will liaise with an array of internal and external people via email, phone, MS Teams and in person, requiring tact and diplomacy.
      • Confidence – being confident around people of all levels is important given the regular liaison with various individuals from Assistants to Partners, all of whom will value your opinion.
      • Organisation – the ability to organise and prioritise is imperative as you will need to “juggle” tasks and priorities.
      • Discretion – the ability to maintain confidentiality is important as you will be privy to information such as individuals’ personal details.
      • Drive – having the drive to embrace and fulfil team and individual goals and visions is vital.
