      What is the role?

      Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Member within the team responsible for delivery of the Management of Serious Crime (MOSC) Program and Senior Investigating Officer Program (SIOP) - a portfolio within Investigations and Specialist Training (IST) of Learning and Development Command (LDC). At times, the role will be required to provide assistance to the External Investigations Training Team (EITT) and broader IST faculty. This role is based at AFP College, Barton, ACT, however there will be occasional domestic and international travel requirement.

      IST plan, develop and deliver investigations-based training to internal and external clients. In this role you will play a pivotal role in supporting the MOSC-SIOP Team, which focusses upon the: domestic MOSC course; Commonwealth Agency MOSC (CAMOSC) course; International MOSC (IMOSC) course; SIOP; and SIO Cohort Maintenance Workshop (SIOCM).

      The MOSC Program was established in 1991 and is regarded as the AFP's flagship training program and Australasian policing's premier program for leaders of complex serious crime investigations. It is recognised nationally and internationally as a program of excellence in the management and leadership of serious and complex criminal investigations.

      The SIOP is the AFP's headline investigations program targeted at Inspectors and Superintendents (& Sergeants acting in those roles) with responsibilities for leading and managing investigations into serious and complex criminal activities. The SIOP forms part of an enhanced SIO Continuum and is one of the necessary elements toward achieving Silver AFP SIO qualification.

      As required, the role will also provide support to the EITT, which may include the coordination of external training requests and planning of the Commonwealth Agency Investigations Course.

      The position presents an ideal opportunity for highly motivated individuals wishing to broaden their skill-set and contribute to work in a team responsible for developing the capability and capacity of investigative leaders in the AFP and Commonwealth, as well as international law enforcement partners.

      As a Team Member in the AFP you will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

      What will you do?

      • Provide high level logistical coordination, project management and administrative support.
      • Assist in the planning, development, coordination and delivery of relevant training programs.
      • Liaise with the Senior Executive from a range of internal and external stakeholders, including Commonwealth, State and Territory and International partners and the private sector, to develop and deliver program content commensurate with the target audience (senior investigators and future organisational leaders).
      • Operate with minimal supervision to achieve high quality outcomes for complex projects/programs in demanding environments.
      • Deploy for regional and international based program delivery.
      • Meet the needs of a diverse range of stakeholders to develop and deliver strategic level investigations training as part of a multidisciplinary team.
      • Liaise with other portfolios of LDC regarding program resources and administrative processes.
      • Take responsibility for the management of contracts, budgets, invoices and financial processes associated with course delivery.
      • Ensure the maintenance of accurate corporate, program and learner records.
      • Maintain currency in relevant skills through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities outside the formal education process.
      • Maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and all other partners to ensure ongoing effective contribution to partnerships and working relationships.
      • Utilise allocated resources and funding to achieve business area deliverables in accordance with the AFP Governance Framework.
      • Contribute to post-program reviews and feedback assessment, and enact review outcomes, to ensure continuous improvement.

      Essential Requirements

      • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
      • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills and the ability to foster productive working relationships.
      • High level oral, written communication skills.
      • The ability to regularly deploy within Australia, and internationally at least once per year, to support training program delivery.
      • Ability and willingness to participate in strenuous outdoor activities (e.g. hiking and camping) which form an essential element of some programs.
      • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
      • Current Certificate IV in training and assessment or ability to obtain one.

      Desirable Requirements

      The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

      • Experience in project management and leading financial compliance.
      • Experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of training programs.
      • Experience in developing simulated training scenarios.
