      DevOps-SRE Lead Engineer

      Lloyds Banking Group

      London based : 2 days per week in the office and the rest from home

      Salary & Benefits: £85,255 to £127,300 per annum, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

      What will you focus on in this role?

      You’ll work in a hybrid role, leading the team, mentoring, coaching and developing staff, while the other half of the role will be acting as a very hands-on Senior DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer. The team focuses on Site Reliability, Platform, DevOps and Systems engineering, to build and run large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems.

      Our engineers are passionate about ensuring the services, both internal and external have; substantial reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs, resiliency, architectural simplicity, as well as continually seeking to find improvements.

      You’ll have the opportunity to deal with complex challenges, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity/forensic analysis and various system design strategies to address those challenges.

      Much of your focus will be on optimising existing systems on Azure, building new Azure PaaS and IaaS solutions for services currently not running on Azure and eliminating manual work through automation wherever feasible. A further stage will be to apply those skills to GCP, but this is further down the road.

      • Kubernetes & troubleshooting, manged services like AKS

      • Using your SRE Attitude (understanding SLI, SLO & SLA)

      • Container Image Management & Security like Aquasec

      • Code Quality & repository Management like SonarQube & NexusQ

      • Service Mesh (Istio) traffic shaping, canary, blue/green &usage of envoy filter

      • Micro Services Design Patterns & Architecture & Logging

      • Micro Services and Larger Application Service Deployments in K8s

      • Micro Service Data Migration Tools & Knowledge

      • Manage & Migrate Microsoft SQL Server and Database

      • ITILv3 Solutions like ServiceNow

      • Helmfile & Helm Charts writing comprehensive helm charts from scratch

      • Azure Resource Manager (ARM) Templates & Blueprints & Bicep

      • Azure DevOps CI/CD Automation & Hands-on Azure Pipelines

      • CI/CD Automated Unit/Integration/Load Testing

      • Application Performance Testing & Monitoring (Junit, Gatling, LoadRunner)

      • Observability, Logging, Monitoring & Alerting (Azure Monitor & Dynatrace)

      • Networks & Protocols & DNS & TLS/mTLS

      • PKI Lifecycle Certificate Management Experience like Venafi

      • Azure Application Gateway & API Management

      • Azure IAM - Identity & Access Management

      • Azure Policy Management & Cloud Security

      • Azure Express Route

      • FinOps (cost management activities)

      • Chaos Engineering

      • Day2 & Disaster Recovery

      What do we need to see from applicants?

      We like people who come from diverse cultural backgrounds and are really looking for someone passionate, ambitious and has a good problem solving mindset. On your CV, we need to see the following to consider you for interview:

      • Experience programming in at least two (but not all!) of the following languages: .Net, Java, Groovy, Scala, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript, PowerShell or Bash/Shell.

      • Prior work experience in a technical leadership role.

      • Career background as senior engineering level within the field of DevOps. Ideally, you’ll come from a software engineering style background and have moved into SRE/DevOps.

      • Knowledge of Azure Cloud (i.e. AKS, Key Vault, APIM, Application Gateway, SQL).

      • Very strong DevOps skill set with expertise in integration tools like Azure DevOps, Nexus, and Git

      • Kubernetes & Istio (AKS an advantage)
